Including Action

A living world in contradiction is what appears to be

The expression of diversity construed to “them” and “we”

One is so blind to think this pattern settles and stops there

What is above is too below it’s clear we’re not aware

If one looks we are the earth alone in space we rest

But the looking I’m describing includes “you” and “their” whole mess

If one hears we are the trees leaves rustling in the breeze

But the hearing I’m describing includes the bustling of thieves

If one feels you are your soles universe turned into grass

But the feeling I’m describing includes a universe of broken glass

If one knows you die to now thoughts trapped by time and pleasure

But the knowing I’m describing frees the mind from every measure

The New River

I sat and I stared my whole world went away

The periphery to the center turned right into gray

Or was it the outside to inside dissolving

My perception of center it went on evolving

I searched and I searched with my conscious attention

For somewhere to grasp of the center I mentioned

I looked in my feet resting crossed in the grass

I followed my legs up straight through my ass

I didn’t stop there I explored my whole torso

The breath in and out the heart beating more so

But this wasn’t my center so I searched through my arms

Sounds of the nights creatures bringing fear and alarm

I let out a clap to scare them away

And realized my fear was my mind just in play

Then I remembered the search for my center

And with that small thought it’s the mind that I entered

Upon looking round’ there was no center there

The space in my skull the head that has hair

I looked to my senses, the space that surrounds me

The breath through my nose, the vapors that drown me

I pushed my attention to see the whole thing

My vision, my heart, my thoughts, my feelings

I found myself staring at a point oh so small

The reflection of the moon on a bottle was all

I looked with my vision, I looked with my heart

I looked with the whole thing and much to my start

The world turned to gray and the gray turned to black

The moon’s small reflection I felt staring back

But the space I had entered was somewhere behind it

Way out in the cosmos I tried not to mind it

That feeling so new, it gave me a fright

My heart began pounding, my ego alight

Then black turned to gray and gray turned right back

To the place I was sitting and feeling things at

I sat in confusion my mind played it back

That experience it felt like it had to unpack

But I remembered again the search for my center

“Was it there in that space that I had just entered?”

No it was not and I laughed at my dream

I’d remembered again the sound of the stream

The air in my lungs, I could feel my heart beating

The search for my center it had no true meaning

But the truth I had found in my exploration

Was precisely the place, the whole destination
